Eboracum Lodge No. 1611

This photographic project documents members of Eboracum Lodge No. 1611 both within St Saviourgate Masonic Hall and around the city of York. The series combines details of the Lodge’s historic interior, ritual objects, architecture, and symbolic artefacts, with more informal moments of members walking through the city, talking together, and sharing food.
The intention was to move beyond the traditionally formal representation of Freemasonry and instead present a more human and contemporary perspective. By photographing conversations, shared meals, and moments of reflection alongside the Lodge’s historic environment, the images highlight the social and communal nature of the organisation while acknowledging its long-standing traditions.
Together, the photographs present the Lodge not only as a historic institution but as a living community grounded in friendship, conversation, and shared experience.

The restoration of the 324 Battery, 94th Light Anti-Aircraft Regiment, Royal Artillery

I photographed the restoration of the 324 Battery, 94th Light Anti-Aircraft Regiment, Royal Artillery, capturing both the intricate details of the preservation process and the historical significance of the piece. This work highlights the intersection of memory, craftsmanship, and the importance of preserving military heritage for future generations. Through careful composition and attention to light, I aimed to honor the battery's legacy while showcasing the meticulous efforts involved in its restoration.

Medals records room

At Doncaster Heritage, I photographed volunteer archivists deeply engaged in uncovering the personal histories behind prisoner-of-war records and military medals. These individuals, often working quietly and meticulously, demonstrate a profound commitment to preserving stories that might otherwise be lost. Their work reveals how something as small as a medal or as formal as a record can hold entire lives within them, carrying echoes of bravery, endurance, and the human cost of conflict. This process closely aligns with the concerns at the heart of my artistic practice.

Collaboration with York Scarborough Hospital

York Minster at York Scarborough Hospital This work was created as part of the Live Briefs project in collaboration with York Scarborough Hospital. The aim was to bring archival material from York Minster into the hospital environment — making art and heritage accessible to those who might not be able to visit in person. I believe everyone deserves the chance to engage with cultural history; to focus on something meaningful, even briefly, can offer peace and reflection.
Presented in a hospital setting, the sculpture’s fine detail and emotional resonance take on deeper significance. Up close, its craftsmanship and the human stories embedded in stone reveal themselves — narratives that transcend time and speak to our shared experience.
In places where time often feels suspended, art can serve as a quiet companion — offering moments of calm, connection, and continuity in difficult circumstances.
As part of the project, I helped gather fellow students’ quotes and feedback for the media coverage. This resulted in features across local and national platforms, including:
